The Place…
We’ll be hiking into the soaring Avellanos Towers, in a seldom visited corner of Patagonia. This region is similar the famed Torres del Paine, but these remote mountains see few visitors. Reaching the peaks requires a mix of on and off-trail travel, ranging from historic horse trails to scrambling. We have the unique joy of traveling with experienced, gifted horse people who work with pack horses to carry the majority of our loads. We’ll hike with only daypacks. The horsepacking team also establishes camp and prepares meals, freeing up time and space for inner and outer exploration.
The mountains will push you. Long days, wet feet, intense river crossings, and the sometimes harsh Patagonian weather will allow you to understand how deep your capacity is. The mountains have a way of shining a light on your limiting beliefs and how you might be getting in your own way.
Living in the mountains, using your body day after day, opening your heart to the stunning scenery, and feeling the connection to land, people and horses will allow you to access a deep and lasting shift, well beyond this trip.
This remote corner of Patagonia is our wildest and most intense expedition yet. We’re thrilled to partner with our dear friends at Chulengo Expeditions to offer you this experience.

We’ll start our mornings with guided movement and mindfulness practice. Each day we will offer prompts and frameworks to help you get clear about your edges. As we walk, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to explore powerful questions with your peers. Along the trail you’ll have individual conversations with your coach.

The Place
This remote route will take us through wild and varied terrain. We’ll hike to the stunning Avellanos Towers and along sand beaches beside Chile’s largest lake. We’ll hike in forest, on historic horse trails, and off trail into the alpine. We’ll spend time with gaucho families who call this region home, sharing asados, and learning about the unique connection between humans, place and horses here. We’ll adjust to the sometimes harsh Patagonian weather, we’ll cross big rivers, and we’ll hike through boulder fields. As we travel through this unique and varied landscape it will become our home.
-
✺
Post-Expedition Coaching
After the dust has settled and laundry is done you’ll get on a call with your coach to integrate and anchor what you learned and practiced in Patagonia. This is more than a life changing trip. You’ll have new perspectives and new capacities that let you face day to day challenges in a whole new way. The follow up coaching helps you map a path forward that lets you live into your “what’s next” with unshakable confidence.

Liz Hardwick
I’ve spent a lot of my life outside and find profound power and healing in nature. For the last 20 years I’ve led life changing backcountry expeditions through NOLS. For the past 6 years I’ve been supporting people on transformational journeys as an Integral Master Coach. Coaching matters deeply to me, not just for the profound expansion my clients experience, but for the ways this work allows us all to live into a world with more liberation and more healing. I’m all about radical self-love, emergence, and having the audacity to dream about what’s possible. I’m steeped in self-inquiry and spiritual practice, community work, and trying to keep some semblance of sanity and parent small kids. I draw sustenance from the Wind River Mountains where I live, the traditional territory of the Eastern Shoshone, Northern Arapaho and 11 other tribes.

“Each of you is perfect the way you are ... and you can use a little improvement.”
― Shunryu Suzuki, Zen monk and teacher
The paradox of this quote lays the foundation for my ability to see unique gifts in everyone. I have a passion for helping people develop new capabilities they long to embody. I’ve been a coach and mentor my whole career. As a NOLS instructor I help people build self-awareness in challenging and uncertain environments. As a coach I rely on presence, embodied listening, connection, and humor to support people into profound change.
I’m a faculty mentor at NOLS, a Professional Integral Coach and a Mindfulness Practitioner through the Mindful Life Program. I have a master’s degree in Public Administration focused on leadership development and organizational culture. And I’m going to make you laugh till you pee at least once.
